Early subscriber here. I've gotta say, it seems like more than three years. I've enjoyed all 500 newsletters. However, you really are downplaying the important role Holly played in the early years. She's the reason I signed up originally: that classic picture of Holly and the Horse reeled me in. I am sure I am not the only one. Also, the timeless shot of Holly barking furiously at a huge predator that was flying around your backyard sizing her up for brunch. Love your dogs and your newsletter, probably in that order.
The picture of Holly barking at a low-circling hawk is probably the most representative image of that dog ever taken. I know you have experience with corgis, so you understand.
I know someone said similar on Twitter, but I always viewed the newsletter as Roughly My Generation Dad-ing (as frequently established, “Dad” is a descriptor that does not necessitate gender or child-having).
Basically how my parents probably saw something like Home Improvement, and my grandparents saw Dick Van Dyke.
Action Cookbook is a newsletter for satisfaction, a guide to the important things in life: eat good food, drink good drinks, enjoy your family, and be silly.
How I would answer if I were you: "I cover a range of topics including parenting, current events, and sports, but I mostly tie my writing to food, and sometimes drinks, books, music, etc. but you've got to read it to get the whole picture. What;s your email? I'll forward one to you!"
Congrats on 500 Scott! You have achieved your goal at least for my email inbox. Thanks for all of the inspiration in the kitchen and parenting realm. I can't wait to read the next 500.
*Proclaimers' voices* I will read 500 newsletters. And I will read 500 more...
I also want to bring up The Red Zone, which was an amazing piece of fiction you did that I've gone back to read a couple of times. If anyone hasn't read it, I would HIGHLY recommend.
"He said three-and-half Moby Dicks."
"Heh heh. Heh heh."

Mobies Dick
I read that and immediately wondered if that a surgeons general thing

Just wait until Wednesday, when he publishes his pitch for the new Washington Commanders mascot: Red Rocket, the Dog with a Hog.

Yes. Does this mean Scott's getting syndicated????
Congrats! Bonus points for syncing this up with the Hebrew calendar, that's very impressive planning
Can you really go off topic if there isn’t one topic?

I love this, thank you!
Congratulations on 500. This remains my favorite newsletter and the only one that comes to my inbox instead of to the updates tab. Here's to 500 more!
Thank you so much!
Congrats on 500! Been a blast to read the last couple of years, even the ones about kids despite being nowhere near having any myself!
Thank you!!
"A newsletter? What's it about?"

Thanks for your writing, Scott! I truly love the newsletter and can't wait for the next 500 editions
Glad you recovered in time for the game. Congrats on the milestone. How you manage to make this much enjoyable content is beyond me. Well done.
