Do it anyway.
We face the first Friday of a brand new year.
A few weeks ago, I was noodling around in the big, messy spreadsheet I use to track the things I want to feature in future Friday newsletters, and I realized that this week’s Friday was going to fall on New Year’s Day.
Now, I always try to set some kind of tone, if not a full overarching theme, to each Friday’s missive, but… what’s left to say? We’ve made it past the threshold of a new year, leaving behind one of the most difficult years any of us have ever lived. A new year lies ahead of us, full of possibility, uncertainty, and maybe a little bit of hope.
The last few years have taught me that I’m terrible at making predictions, but I do believe that things will get better this year, albeit slowly. In terms of a message, though, I struggled to find one until yesterday morning. I was driving to the grocery store to do my usual curbside pickup, one of the countless little things I’d never done before 2020 and have now just become a part of my regular life now, and a song came on the ra…
