Yeah, I’m still watching the Olympics.
I talked about my love of the Games last Friday, and it’s still going strong this week. Our whole family is still watching every night, and everyone is inspired in their own ways. My daughter, normally of the princess-and-unicorn-and-ballerina persuasion, told me last night that “the only Olympics I want to watch is weightlifting”. My son decided to vocally root for Russia during artistic swimming, and my wife likes them dancy horses.
Me? I’m just wondering how old is too old to pick up shotput.
A couple nights ago, we tuned in just as the American duo of Ryan Crouser and Joe Kovacs were pummeling the field toward a gold-and-silver finish in the men’s shot put. It’s extremely good entertainment, and I don’t know why we don’t televise it more that once every four years—massive dudes pirouetting with Baryshnikov-level footwork before throwing a big rock 75+ feet.
