I think by now you probably know that I enjoy cooking.
I’m no expert, of course. I have no formal culinary training, and for better and for worse, I think that shows. I’m just a kitchen hobbyist, someone who cooks to feed my family but also to relax and entertain myself. Much of what I know has been gleaned over the years from watching cooking shows, reading recipes in cookbooks and on the internet, and sharing tips and tricks with friends.
Every once in a while, that process of sharing reveals something that turns me into Wee Bey from The Wire:
I had a moment like this just the other day when, on Twitter, my friend Brian Floyd of Banner Society mentioned that when pulling cooked meat/poultry, rather than using forks, tongs, or (as I normally do) plastic “bear claws”, he simply puts the meat in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment.
