The Friday newsletter washes up on the shores of beach season
Beach season is coming, and I’m not exactly ready.
If last Friday’s massive newsletter wasn’t indication enough, I overindulged a bit last weekend in Kentucky Derby festivities. I live in Louisville, it happens. Aside from being a horse race and an excuse to party, though, the first Saturday in May around here is the unofficial start to the warm months. It signals thatI can plant my garden soon, I can re-ignite Randpaulian turf wars with my neighbor, and I can shed the sweatshirts and jackets that have defined my wardrobe for the last six months or so.
[glances in mirror] Ah, well. About that last one.
It seems like it’s time for a different spring/summer shift around here, which is the shift to quasi-healthier eating by simply grilling everything. It’s the Action Cookbook Cantina Menu, if you will.
