I don’t like painting.
I’m not talking about painting as an artistic endeavor—I haven’t ever really tried that, and I don’t have a strong opinion on it either way aside from assuming that I’m not very good at it. No, I’m talking about painting walls in one’s house or apartment. I don’t like doing it, and I never have.
I can acknowledge the necessity of it; say you find a nice place to move into, but the previous owner inexplicably painted rooms dark blue, mustard yellow, and blood red. (Hypothetically.)
I can also acknowledge that it’s a relatively easy thing to do as compared to other household trades; unlike carpentry, plumbing or electrical work, you don’t really need any special skills or expensive equipment to do it. You can just buy paint and do it. Won’t even take that long.
Nevertheless, I do not enjoy it, and I will take any opportunity not to participate in it.
