This newsletter has been an absolute delight in the Year of Eternal March. Happy Ides of March and St. Patrick's Day to you and yours, and give Holly a proper British amount of affection (and ham) from me.
Happy birthday to Holly! I like to think I'm pretty good at avoiding the parasocial relationship trap, but Holly is the exception - I count her as a close personal friend. And thank you for this newsletter! It's the only newsletter I read in full every single time (though it's not the NY Times' fault I try to read theirs while I'm still half asleep)
Oh and I preordered The Effort based on your rec, even though I have a extremely long hold list on Libby, which is a high compliment!
AC: Seeing “Giants in the Nighttime” on your list today welled up all the same emotions it hit me with a few months ago. Thank you for your thoughtfulness in expressing what being a parent (and a person) means to you right now.
You are making real connections even to people you don’t know - and who doesn’t need those in 2020? Thank you for helping create a few more moments where we can feel like giants.
Getting this newsletter every other day has been a joy and a distraction in a year that has been dangerously lacking in both. Thank you for the work and time you put into it. It has acted as a de facto security blanket for me and I am sure many others.
*And I'm not just saying that because of the mention of my sweet, sweet Jackie Daytona.
You have brought light to thousands of us over this very dark year. Holly has too. She is a rock star. If you want a cuddle-bunny, though, don't get a corgi.
Said this in the Thanksgiving newsletter, but thank you for this in 2020.
This newsletter is something I genuinely look forward to reading (especially the Friday one I wait until Saturday morning to read). It is invaluable to have someone that is in my same life stage and appreciates many of the same things (sometimes the music is not my cup of tea).
Also, 10000% agree on Ted Lasso. Truly the best piece of media I consumed in 2020.
Thanks so much for all your effort to make sense of the senseless year we've all endured. The newsletter is the highlight of what is often a bleak inbox, and I love that I can share pet photos with the kids, cocktail recipes with my bride, and realize I really am miserably slow when it comes to reading.
Here's to 2021, and have a happy holiday to the Hineseses and all the wonderful cookbook readers!
Thank you, Scott, for a heaping dose of joy in what has been, well, a year. Many of the recipes you’ve posted will be on the table at a family gathering once it is safe to get together in large numbers.
Give Holly an extra head scritch from us and Rosie.
This really belongs on the Christmas post, but I'll drop it here.
"Acknowledging that not everyone celebrates Christmas, let alone in a way that is very recent, and very culturally specific, isn’t an attack on anyone or anything. "
This newsletter is what first put Ted Lasso on my radar and it was even better than promised. We watched the whole thing in one sitting and then again over the next two weeks. Here's to the things big and small that got us through 2020 together, and here's to a better 2021.
Scott, thank you so much for this newsletter. It’s delightful, both when it’s serious and when you’re making cheeseburger pies. You introduced me to one of my now-favorite bands (The Sonder Bombs), and I am SO GLAD you liked MM@TA. A happy holiday to you and yours, and please pet Holly for me. ☃️

I've watched a lot of The Crown lately, so the proper British amount of affection will be a subtle head nod on her birthday
Quite.

That's awesome, and thank you!!

Thank you!! And I did think of you in posting that.

And yeah, her best move is to come up asking for pets, get petted for 10 seconds, then grunt as if to say "that's enough" and walk away.

Merry Christmas Scott and family!
Merry Christmas and Happy (belated) Hannukah and Happy Kwanzaa and Happy New Year to everyone else too!
Thank you, and all of these things to you, too!

And a very happy holiday to you as well!
Very satisfied subscriber here
Thank you so much!
Seems like my wife and I reference your Flavortown piece once a week. Thanks for that.
Thank you Scott for everything this year. Your newsletter has been a joy ever day it shows up in my inbox. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Thank you, and will do!
If you decide to take ACB on the road, I’ll happily be your fixer for Western Massachusetts and The Big E.
After spending the vast majority of the last nine months sitting exactly where I'm sitting, I am *dying* to get on the road when it's advisable again.

Thanks for keeping our Fridays exciting! And glad to see that someone else loves Spanish Love Songs as much as I do!
Absolutely, and thank you for suggesting them!

Thank you, and thank you for introducing me to MM@TA! They've been one of my heaviest listens since then!
