Thank you for writing this. Much like Ted Lasso, I'm not a fan of pessimism or "it's the hope that kills you."

This is the new normal was my battle cry when my father passed away a few years ago. In a very tangible and obvious sense nothing could ever go back to what it was. But it becomes the way to look at a life and a world that has so much to offer. The New Normal is different at first but after the edges get sanded down it's worth it.

Amen! The human condition is one of loss. And if we are fortunate enough to live a long life, the losses pile up. But it is one of blessings as well. Our ability to be grateful for the latter determines how well we weather the former. I loved today's newsletter.

I feel my throat close up with rage when I hear that smug self-righteous yOu WiLl NeVeR kNoW nOrMaL aGaIn talk. People like that inspire very unpleasant impulses in me. It's a different flavor of our national addiction to misanthropy. I miss human contact, casual and formal, friends and strangers, so much that I can't articulate it. I am DESPERATE to go sit in a damn coffee shop and read a damn book. Humans are not meant to be this isolated.
