rookie mistake: a lot of poisons separate out into the gas phase when you run them through a decanter, wasting all that effort building up tolerance to a poison that isn't there anymore. I'd recommend pouring Giancalmo's and your glass of wine directly to maximize potency. AND THEN use the decanter on a nice bottle of wine while celebrating at his funeral.

I love that the links all work.

And I'm interested in the decanter- is it good for Amontillado?

The best part of these newsletters is how Scott takes them like 3 steps further than you might think. Like, he COULD have cut directly to the Derek bit after the ghost that haunts your studio but no, no, there's more and more and more.

I also appreciate how this is probably just his Christmas list for his wife.

And for that person in your life that needs emotional terrorism, any suggestions? Maybe something to read?

Also is that the Olaf / possum approved head lamp?

You hit on a lot of the gifts that often go overlooked, but one I'd like some advice on is the old man that lives in the ancient house down the road, next to the creek. I see him out fishing all the time. I've never spoken with him, but I'll always owe him for rescuing me out of the creek on the edge of his property. It's a lot deeper than it looks, and the water was much more black than you'd think. I can't recall if I slipped, or something grabbed, but I do recall seeing a fast white blur out of the corner of my eye. The current was pulling me under for what seemed like ages, and I began to have visions of lost loved ones, although they were in a different form. After what seemed like ages I felt a sharp prick in my hand, and next thing I knew I was on shore and the old man was removing a hook from my hand. He walked away while I caught my breath so I haven't been able to thank him. I figure a Christmas gift is the least I could do!

My wife and I got the Ooni pizza oven, and the extra high temperatures definitely improve the home pizza results over using a regular oven. Worth buying for you or your Other.

I thought we would find out that Giancalmo was Billy the Bullet’s last name, and these were all gifts for the same person from different points of view.

It’s probably hard to be a bridge monster and a mob boss at the same time though.

Scott (or anyone who has tried one), can you attest to the quality of the ClearlyFrozen tray? I was just looking at it online yesterday as I’m trying to up my home bar game.

Gift idea for Olaf:

I'm sure he'd love to have a furry friend in the house that didn't hate every aspect of his existence. Not saying you need another dog, but I'm not not saying that.

I’m dying to know the answer to the riddle but too lazy to look it up.

That last entry is a better doppelgänger story than “The Double.”

Rumor has it that Willie was banished from AC’s Bar and Grill for badmouthing the jukebox and saying there’s nothing special about a deep fried pork cutlet sandwich. To this day he wanders the roadside looking for jukeboxes so he can annoy the patrons with a Kidz Bop version of Midnight At The Oasis.

Someone tell my husband to get me an Ooni when I officially get my letter telling me I was awarded tenure and promotion (I'm close at the moment but I feel absurd telling hubs I want this for a "normal" holiday...we're pretty low key on gifts).

Also what are we supposed to get the Olafs in our lives?
